Ben’s Bar Mitzvah

It’s not just weddings here at The Copper Dahlia! In August, I had the pleasure to be a part of the vendor team for Ben’s bar mitzvah. Danielle at Amethyst Events approached me with the task of aligning with their VIP/exclusive red carpet walk theme, with florals in blues and black tones that was still masculine, but also youthful and fun. And fun was had! I wanted to use gradients of black to grey/silver paint on greenery and dried accents in order to have something unique. To get the deeper, dark blue tones I also sprayed laurel a midnight blue and was so happy with the contrast when designed in more modern, asymmetric pieces. The ceremony took place outside at Liljebeck Farms, with the front altar space being framed by a series of 3 pillar and ground arrangements on either side. Each piece was a little different from the other, with a mix and variety of colored greenery and florals in blue, white, and greens. It’s been a bucket list item of mine to design with these gorgeous black and white delphinium! There’s also a mix of dark and light blue delphinium, salvia, white carnations, mondial roses, lisianthus, button mums, dahlias, and spray roses. The pale blue hydrangeas, zebra grass, and black grasses were all sourced from my own cutting garden.

I love when an altar space is used not only for an event’s main ceremony, but also as a backdrop for photos of family and friends!

Inside the venue, a centerpiece with fun and funky sprayed accents were on round tables in an asymmetric design. I used a mix of the delphinium, roses, hydrangea, button mums, and spray roses in a grey bowl to accent the sleek black and blue table decor.

Amping up the style on the head table were the same concept of centerpiece in a low and low style. Check out the details on the gradient sprayed hebe greens!

Guests at this event were greeted with assorted budvases with black mondo grass, delphinium and other white accent florals throughout the room, and after the ceremony the pillar/ground arrangements were used for the photobooth and accent sign. There were so many fun activities during this celebration, a mix of tradition and games with lots of snacks and treats!

It was such a privilege to be trusted with the vision of this event and be a part of this family’s celebration! Artistry involves a whole lot of trust from clients when you’re creating something unique and this event was really special. Mazel tov Ben!
